About Prohealth
Prohealth is a leading healthcare company in Malta, representing and distributing a broad portfolio of pharmaceutical, dermo-cosmetic, healthcare and wellness brands.
Its products reach consumers primarily through an extensive network of pharmacies across Malta and Gozo, as well as through Prohealth’s own online store. While this model provides strong market coverage, Prohealth traditionally had limited direct insight into the consumers ultimately purchasing and using its products.
The challenge: Understanding the consumer behind the sale
Prohealth had strong visibility of sales to its pharmacy partners, but limited insight into the consumers ultimately choosing its products.
The company wanted to better understand these consumers, their purchasing behaviour and preferences, and communicate with them in a more relevant and personalised way.
Importantly, any solution needed to complement Prohealth’s established pharmacy relationships, with pharmacies remaining central to how its products reach consumers.
“We wanted to better understand the consumers choosing our brands, their buying behaviour and preferences, and communicate with them in a more relevant and personalised way.”
The solution: A loyalty programme that works across pharmacies
Prohealth chose Loyale because it offered a practical way to engage with consumers purchasing its products through pharmacies.
At the centre of the programme is Loyale’s Receipt Scanner. Customers can upload receipts for eligible purchases, receive rewards and remain engaged with participating Prohealth brands after their purchase.
This enabled Prohealth to introduce a loyalty programme across multiple brands and pharmacy locations while retaining its existing pharmacy-led distribution model.
“The receipt scanner was particularly important to us because it allowed customers to participate in the loyalty programme by uploading receipts for purchases made through different pharmacies.”
Building greater consumer insight and engagement
Previously, when consumers purchased Prohealth products through pharmacies, Prohealth generally had limited consumer-level visibility of those purchases.
The receipt-based loyalty programme is helping to change that. Consumers have a simple way to identify eligible purchases, earn rewards and engage with participating Prohealth brands.
In turn, Prohealth can recognise loyalty across participating brands while gradually developing a clearer understanding of its consumer base.
The programme is beginning to provide insight into:
- Purchasing patterns
- Product and brand preferences
- Customer engagement levels
- Purchase and participation frequency
- Loyalty across different brands
As the programme develops, these insights can support more effective audience segmentation and help Prohealth deliver communications, promotions and campaigns that are increasingly relevant to individual consumers.
Early signs of growing engagement
The programme launched in mid-May 2026 and remains at a relatively early stage. However, Prohealth has already seen an encouraging initial response, including steady growth in loyalty programme members, receipt submissions and customer engagement.
The company is also beginning to gather useful information about purchasing patterns and brand preferences. As participation grows, this insight is expected to become increasingly valuable when shaping more targeted customer communications and campaigns.
“One of the biggest benefits is that we are beginning to build a better understanding of the consumers choosing our brands and how they engage with them.”
Creating value beyond points and rewards
For Prohealth, the value of its loyalty programme extends beyond offering points or incentives.
Customers benefit from being recognised and rewarded for their loyalty. Prohealth, meanwhile, gains a way to better understand and engage the people who actively choose its products, while continuing to work through the pharmacy network that is fundamental to its business.
This creates the foundation for a longer-term relationship that can become more personalised and valuable over time.
Working with Loyale
Prohealth describes its experience with the Loyale team as very positive, highlighting the team’s responsiveness, support and willingness to understand its particular business model and objectives.
As with any new programme, certain areas required discussion and refinement throughout implementation. The Loyale team remained available and worked closely with Prohealth through both the implementation and launch stages.
“The Loyale team has been responsive, supportive and open to understanding our particular business model and objectives.”
Prohealth’s advice to other brands
Prohealth believes loyalty programmes should not be viewed simply as mechanisms for distributing points or rewards. Their real value lies in developing a better understanding of consumers and creating opportunities for more relevant engagement.
For brands considering a loyalty programme, solutions such as Loyale can provide an opportunity to better understand and engage with consumers over time.
However, long-term success requires continuous attention. Rewards, communications and campaigns must remain useful and relevant if customers are to remain engaged.
Building stronger consumer engagement
With Loyale, Prohealth is beginning to build a better understanding of consumers across a diverse portfolio of brands and its extensive pharmacy network.
By using receipt data to develop greater consumer insight, Prohealth can recognise loyalty, better understand purchasing behaviour and gradually deliver more relevant customer experiences, while pharmacies remain central to how its products reach consumers.
